Giants: Citizen Kabuto Preview
September 24, 2000

Introduction

I've recently received our press copy of Giants, and have been playing it nearly non-stop (I know, I know, I should forego eating, but I'm only human). The scope of the game is simply massive, with three distinct races, or sides, fighting for control of a massive series of islands. We've created a preview that should bring you that much closer to truly understand the beauty of a game that is Giants.

Pre-Game

After ripping the package out of the hands of the UPS man, I ripped open its tough outer shell without thinking of using a knife. After the box had been ripped to shreds, a shining jewel appeared: the Giants box. It may change a little for retail release, but in its current state showing a Meccaryn, Delphi, and the grinning maw of Kabuto, it's quite possible the most nicely done cover for a box I've ever seen. After breaking out its hypnotic control over me, I opened the box and pulled out a DVD case, which was obviously being used just for the press copies. Inside the DVD case was a single CD-R with the words "Giants Preview" scribbled onto it with a felt-tipped pen. Installation including whipping out some of my "mad skillz", and involved such obstacles as making a bunch of folders, and proceeding to look through the numerous .bat files to find which one would best suit my computer.
