When anything new comes out from id Software people from all over rush to get it. Thank god some dimwit invented this cool thing called the "Internet" or we would have fights over copies of the latest id Software arrivals at your local computer store like they did with the Playstation 2. The Internet gives us a much safer way to distribute demos and patches and such. Coming from one of the best game development houses is another chapter to one of the most popular and influence game series to date, Quake. With the one year anniversary of Quake III: Arena going gold being today how else could id Software celebrate then a demo for their upcoming add-on.
Since we weren't one of the initial mirrors for the demo we had to download at a pain staking 15kb/sec from a crammed download sites, even with our cable modems we were getting poor speed. After downloading the bad boy I installed it as quick as possible and jumped onto an in-house ID server. But before we really go into any detail on the game, let me run you through the new features:

The Quake III: Team Arena Demo can be played without Quake III Arena installed on your system. However, the retail version of Quake III: Team Arena will require the full retail version of Quake III Arena be installed.
The Quake III Team Arena demo includes the following:
Single Player (with bots) and multiplayer functionality
1 map (which is enabled for all of the Team Arena game types)
1 female and 1 male model - including 2 character heads
3 clan skins
4 gametypes: Capture the Flag, One Flag CTF, Harvester, and Overload
1 new weapon - Proximity Launcher
