Baldur's Gate 2 Review
October 22, 2000

Content

Bioware hasn't skimped on the sheer amount of content you'll find within Baldur's Gate II's box. Besides a $10.00 mail-in rebate for Icewind Dale and the obligatory registration card, you'll find a folded paper-map of the world you'll be adventuring in. The real gem, however, is the 250-page game manual (yes, 250 pages). I thought perhaps they had included the entire AD&D Dungeon Master manual or something, because I surely hadn't ever seen a manual this huge included with a game. The ring-bound manual is simply brilliant. It is divided into 2 parts: The Game Guide, which covers the usual stuff such as Installation, Game Configuration, and Character Generation. The second part, Volo's Guide to Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn, is by far the most interesting. It contains background information, NPCs that can join your party, major characters of Amn, and information on power groups of the Sword Coast such as the Shadow Thieves and the Cowled Wizards.
